Abstract submission guideline

1.

Two types of abstracts will be accepted: clinical case and poster.

2.

All abstracts must be presented in English.

3.

Topic

The clinical case may cover any type of acute leukemia (AL), myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN), or mastocytosis that requires treatment at some point during its course, as well as the management of complications during treatment.
4.

Previously presented abstracts at other conferences can be submitted.

5.

The case must raise at least one point of controversy that will be the subject of debate during its presentation.

6.

If the topic of the clinical case is related to any of the sessions, there will be an opportunity to participate in the session’s debate along with the other speakers of that session (subject to Scientific Committee criteria)

7.

The body of the abstract should be structured under the following headings:

Title and author’s name with affiliation details (hospital they belong to)
Brief introduction with the patient’s personal history
Hematological history
Evolution and treatment
Images (maximum 2) and charts (maximum 1)
Conclusions
Bibliographical references (maximum 5)
8.

The body of the abstract summary should not exceed 3,500 characters, including spaces (approximately 500 words and 60 lines). Bibliographical references are not included in the character count.

The deadline for submitting abstracts is July 19, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Submissions should be sent to the meeting’s secretariat (cursoleucemia@doctaforum.com). The email must include a contact email address and a mobile phone number, as well as the full name, hospital, and department of the authors. The subject line of the email should state “Clinical Case/Poster Competition – Acute Leukemia”.

10.

Communication of acceptance/rejection of the abstract will be sent to authors by July 27, 2026, by email, together with presentation instructions and the template for creating the presentation/poster.

11.

Evaluation

The committee evaluating the abstracts will select the best ones based on their interest, quality, and potential for debate.
The Scientific Committee will select the abstracts based on a minimum methodological quality and will be evaluated based on objective scientific criteria:
Clinical interest of the case (40%)
Originality of the case (10%)
Clarity and expression of the writing (20%)
Quality of the discussion and reflection on the case (30%)
12.

Presentation of Selected Cases

Presenters will have 10 minutes to present their case.
Slides must be in English.
13.

Presentation of Poster

Presenters will be able to display their poster at the meeting posters area.
Authors of the posters will have the opportunity to defend them orally during coffee breaks or other designated times.
14.

The best selected case and the best selected poster will be awarded with registration, accommodation, and travel to the Current Challenges in Hematology – 5th Edition, Rome 2027. The meeting is subject to approval by Farmaindustria

Note: Information must be presented clearly, orderly, and comprehensively, while avoiding or limiting the use of abbreviations. The active ingredients of treatments must be specified, avoiding the use of brand names.

It is a mandatory requirement that the first author is registered for the course. They may submit their abstract even if not previously registered for the course. However, if accepted, they must complete their registration and attend the course.

Topics to be Developed in abstracts

Uncommon cases of acute leukemia (AL), myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN), or mastocytosis, which due to their characteristics, generate controversy regarding their diagnostic process and therapeutic management
